Abstract

This Issue of Arab Journal of Applied Linguistics concentrates on topics related to Reading and Writing Skills and reviews a book on Evaluation and a book on fostering Democratic Education. The first two articles focus on learner attitudes towards and practices of Reading and Writing, while the third article addresses the effect of diglossia on literacy development.

Author of Lesson Discourse Analysis (1992), Edwin Mellen Press; Co-author of The Teaching of Foreign Languages in the Arab World (2009), ALECSO Press. Published papers in International Review of Applied Linguistics, Journal of Literary Semantics, Cahiers de Linguisitique d' Ottawa, Langues et Litteratures (University of Algiers), and Lettres de Kairouan (University of Kairouan). Supervised Doctoral Theses at the Universities of Manouba, King Saud, and Strathclyde  (Scotland).
